FIRE BAN IS EFFECTIVE – MAY 29, 2025

Description

Due to ongoing very dry conditions, hot temperature and lack of moisture, the Fire Hazard is now Extreme. As a result, open burning is not allowed within the borders of the MD of Smoky River No. 130, Effective Immediately.

NOW PROHIBITED:

  • All outdoor wood fires, including designated fire pits, backyard fire pits, burning barrels, and any wood campfires on public or private land,
  • BBQ charcoal briquettes, fireworks & exploding targets, burning of brush piles, windrows, or other debris

Instructions

Allowed With Extreme Caution!

·          Portable propane fire pits, gas or propane stoves and BBQs that are CSA or UL certified and are designated for cooking or heating, Catalytic or infrared style heaters.

·          Wood fires in an enclosed facility or device, which has a chimney with a spark arrestor.

·          OFF HIGHWAY VEHICLES FOR RECREATIONAL PURPOSES ARE ALLOWED ON CROWN LAND. This can change dependent on fire orders issued by the provincial Minister of Agriculture and Forestry. Remember to check the hot spots on your vehicle and remove debris before and after use.

Additional Information

The FIRE BAN will remain in place until conditions improve. Fire danger levels are reviewed daily. The Fire Ban will be downgraded when conditions improve.
